CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
What have we been up to???????

The Children and Families Team held a successful Christmas and Advent Season. We performed “Superstar” at The Christmas Fair and also at The Lantern School where we had an audience of 60 plus. Before that we took the story of “The Kings are Coming” to pre-schools and also a mother and toddler group in Soham.
We are about to launch the February Half Term Craft and Story Telling Event for Families that we plan to hold in Church on Monday 17th. Feb. from 9.30 – 12. Our “Practice” went well and we have various animals lined up to be recreated in paper, card, pipe cleaners and feathers. The theme is Creation and called “The Long, The Short and The Tall”. Everyone is welcome to come and support in whichever way they wish. We have also been asked to take this latest offering into The Goslings, Rainbow and St. John’s Pre-schools and also to the Mother and Toddler Group at Soham Methodist Church and a possibility of another church in the Circuit.
The Chaplaincy Project is attracting a lot of Year 7 pupils who like to come and eat their lunch with us. I think the offer of hot chocolate goes down well as a further incentive. Positive relationships are being formed and some girls are to attend the “Shine” event in the Cathedral.
We hope Children and Families work will feature in our discussions at our Church’s forthcoming ‘Away Day’.
We ask you for your continued support and prayers.

Property Report.
Our recent Property Meeting covered as ever a long list of items. It was relief to all that the work on the Church Roof space was completed in time with the minimum of disruption and came in well under the price quoted. This was thanks to a very fair contractor and a diligent Contract Administrator.
All the usual servicing has been completed – Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarms, Emergency Lights, Portable Appliances etc. This year was the year for the 5 year testing of the Electrical Installation and this has also been completed.
EARTH are to be asked again do the summer garden pots as they have been so good in recent years.
It was agreed to get quotes for the outside blue railings and gate to be re-sprayed, redecoration of the New Room and the outside woodwork, a projector and sound system for the New Room and a digital piano for the Church.
A recommendation to increase some of the lettings charges is going to Church Council for approval. Our premises continue to be well used by a variety of groups from the community. Following comments made by some users we would ask that if you are coming into the premises while they are being used you move about as quietly and discreetly as possible so not to disturb their meeting.
We are to have our Quinquennial Inspection – organised by the Circuit on March 25th and are hoping our efforts to keep the premises in good order are reflected in the report.
